I'm still here

It's been a long time since my last update on Scarlet Harvest and while it's true that I did take a break  from the project, and I did start a new job which takes more of my time (pictured, my new job recently took me to San Francisco to cover GDC!), I have still quietly been making  small amounts of progress since March.

I initially started testing designs for two more levels, one set on the city streets and one set in an underground/subway station.  Several years ago, I had a lot of fun modelling assets for a London underground station for GameGuru MAX, so I'm hoping to reuse some of these assets again here, albeit lower poly, lower resolution versions. But it's still early days.

I also began working on a game design doc for the first time, in the hopes of creating a clearer plan for the game as a whole.  I set out what enemies the player could encounter and what weapons they will acquire, but it also gave me the opportunity to work out a much more compelling storyline for the game. It's resulted in a ground-up redesign...but it should make for a better game overall.

Work has already begun on designing and     modelling several new weapons, like this deadly railgun.

Lastly, I've also been grappling with EFPSE's  scripting language and FSM (Finite State Machine) functionalities so I can have more control over certain elements.  I have a couple of blank  levels where I'm testing this stuff with placeholder assets but there's not much to see right now.

I hope to create more devlog videos  in the future   to elaborate on all this work, but as for the game itself, it's going to be a while before I have anything new for you to   play.  I'm taking it slowly, trying not to get burnt out, fitting my game dev around my other commitments.

In the meantime, thanks for your support, both here on itch and on my YouTube channel!
