Devlog 6: How I fixed a fundamental flaw


In the previous devlog for my Easy FPS Editor game Scarlet Harvest, I designed, modelled, animated and scripted a selection of weapons for my sci-fi fps game. The only problem was they broke my game in the process. In this video, I explain how I fixed this, breaking down the fundamentals of how graphics card work, what VRAM is, and how compression like png reduces filesize but doesn't help game devs make efficient choices. Texture optimization is serious business.
